A small and beautiful bay with a wonderful black sand beach called Playa San Marcos in Icod de los Vinos is located on the north-west coast of Tenerife. Sweet and rustic atmosphere of this place is full of Canarian flavor. Protected from large waves, the beach is an ideal place for sunbathing and swimming in the ocean. In summer, the beach is a bit crowded, especially at weekends. In winter, more calm. Weather conditions are so favorable that even in winter it is quite possible to swim and sunbathe.
There is also a small pier for fishing boats, several bars and restaurants where you can taste dishes of European and Canarian cuisine, as well as suggestions from the chef cooked sea fish. On the waterfront is a tiny Catholic church. There is a bus service between San Marcos, just 10 minutes and you are in the center of Icod de los Vinos. In the area there are apartment complexes, almost all of them have stunning views of the mountains and the ocean. There are also adosado and villas. Here you can buy apartments with balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Some complexes have public swimming pools.
