DE ATTRACTIONS EL SAUSAL. TENERIFE
El Sauzal is a municipality in the north of Tenerife, between Tacoronte and La Matanza, its perimeter is 24km. It stretches from the coast, with stunning cliffs at a height of 1,507 meters (4,945 feet) above sea level. Las Mekhijas gorge passes through the middle of the municipality, as well as the TF-5 motorway, which divides it into El Ravel’s hills and El Casco by the sea. The average annual temperature in Al Sauzal is 20.5 ºC (69 ºF).
A monumental view of the Teide volcano opens from virtually anywhere in this area. The rugged landscape with slopes up to 30º is covered with flowering vegetation and is washed by the Atlantic Ocean. This place is considered the most beautiful on the island. The proximity of the motorway offers excellent transport links and for a short time you can get from here to both Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This place is chosen by both locals and guests of the island, who are happy to choose a comfortable stay with amazing views of Teide and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
On the territory of the municipality there are many tourist sites, which unfortunately are not known for many guests of the island. It is a recreational park Las Calderetas, La Garabonia Park, Los Lavaderos Park, the Church of the Apostle San Pedro, Nouestra Señora de los Angeles, the Museum of the Wine House and the House-Museum of Siervit. The coastal zone of this area is cataloged as a protected area. Here you can make unique trips, diving and other water sports. The amazingly beautiful beach of Mesa del Mar with a huge natural pool is the pearl of the island.
Vineyards covering the slopes of the municipality give origin to exquisite wines. The ten major wineries of El Sauzal are very famous in the wine sector and are very popular in the Canary Islands. Further wine does not advance, since all products are used on the islands.
Numerous squares and parks of the municipality during the celebration of various important days of the island acquire a special atmosphere and allow you to plunge into the history and culture of the local population. I recommend visiting Santa Cruces de Ravelo in July, the village feast of San José, Nuestra Señora de los Angeles, on August 2, and San Nicolas in September.
